Sony Xperia Tablet Z(SGP321)

Sony Xperia Tablet Z(SGP321)

Design and build

The Xperia Tablet Z creates a new mould for what large-screen tablets should be like. It’s thinner than its pocketable cousin, the Xperia Z, at just 6.9 mm. The Z is also super light at just 496 g, which makes single-handed use a breeze. There’s sufficient amount of bezel on either side of the screen, so you can use it in any orientation comfortably. The audio quality of the speakers isn’t very good, but it’s loud. The flap-covered ports include the microUSB, microSD and SIM and the headphone jack. The sides house the volume rocker, power/sleep button and two contacts points for using it with a dock. While the glossy front does attract fingerprints, the rear has a very nice matte finish that’s available in both white and black trims. This texture extends along the sides as well to offer better grip.

Features

The LED-backlit LCD display on the Tablet Z is a lot better as compared to the one on the Xperia Z. The full HD resolution (1920 x 1200) at that size offers a decent pixel count of 224 ppi. This is not too far off from Apple’s 264 ppi on the new iPad, which means you won’t notice a huge difference between them in everyday use. The display is bright and text is sharp and crisp; perfect for web browsing or catching up on your TV shows. The display also has a screen guard protecting it, just like the Xperia Z, but we left it alone this time.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is one of the most unique 13-inch Ultrabooks we've seen to date. At first glance this might look like a traditional laptop with a touchscreen that allows direct control over the Windows 8 tile interface, but simply push the screen back and you'll find that it flips around to function as a tablet or presentation tool.

Build and Design

Lenovo calls the IdeaPad Yoga 13 "the world's first multi-mode Ultrabook" and while some might debate the particulars of that claim, we can say this is a very well-built, premium laptop.
Like most Ultrabooks, the IdeaPad Yoga 13 strikes an impressive balance between speedy performance, good battery life and a thin-and-light design. This 13-inch notebook is just 0.67 inches thin with the screen closed and weighs only 3.3 lbs so it's close to the size and weight of a previous generation 12-inch laptop. We were particularly impressed that Lenovo managed to deliver a relatively affordable touch screen convertible laptop without adding more thickness. Lenovo uses what they call "direct bonding technology" to create the 10-point multi-touch display without the added touch-senative layers used by thicker convertible notebooks. Still, even with the thin profile the Yoga 13 feels solid in our hands.

iPhone 6

iPhone 6 Design

A designer at CiccareseDesign created the 3D mockup to show what he thinks the iPhone 6 could look like, and has published a gallery of images showing various angles and colours of the device. “It’s a possible iPhone 6 version, it is a remake from a test prototype description,” the designer explained.

iPhone 6 casing

Multiple rumours say Apple's working on plastic cases for its next iPhone, mixing plastic and metal in such a way that "the internal metal parts [are] able to be seen from outside through special design." Could these images from Apple.pro be a new iPhone 6 complete with plastic casing? The cynic inside us says no, but you never know...

It's unclear whether such cases would be for the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, or if Apple is simply considering making cheaper iPhone 4s to sell when the iPhone 3GS reaches the end of its life.

iPHONE 6 RELEASE DATE

The glimpse into the working of Apple Inc was given by Citi Research analyst Glen Yeung who revealed that a 'big-screen iPhone 6' is likely to be launched in first quarter of 2014.
